Bread Sculptures

It was a bit chilly today, so we decided to bake some bread sculptures. There is something so relaxing about kneading dough, and the girls love to get their hands on things like this.

What you will need:

1 packet of yeast
1 cup warm water
2 teaspoons honey
3/4 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
3 cups flour

Combine the yeast and warm water. Stir until dissolved. Add honey, salt and oil. Whisk together. slowly add flour. Turn the dough onto a lightly flour dusted counter. Knead until dough springs back when lightly poked with your finger.Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and allow it to rise for 30 minutes. Punch down the dough. Now you can sculpt it any way you like. When your sculptures are finished, cover and allow to rise for another 30 minutes. Brush with beaten egg and bake in a 375 degree oven for 25 minutes.

  1. I love bread, yummy. When it is cooking, it is heaven in the oven. Another good idea. The kids would have fun.

SO impressive! We made teddy bear biscuits the other day, but I used refrigerated biscuits. Yikes! Maybe I need to get a little more domestic and try "real" bread. :)

I'm fairly new to your blog, but I LOVE all of the creative things you share and create, especially for the kids. You can tell you have a great passion for creating and instilling that in your children. I wanted to pass along an award to you...even though I'm new to your blog, I KNOW I will continue to get some great ideas from you! Thanks for sharing your creative passion!
