My Goals For 2009

I have never really made a serious New Year's Resolution because that is like setting myself up to fail. But, this year, I really am committed to changing my life for the better. It's not that I am saying I have a horrible life. I don't. I just want a little more.

Someone once said to me, "Boy, if I knew back then what I know now I would have done a lot of things differently. How about you?"
My response was simple and honest, "I wouldn't change a thing."
She said, "Wow, your life must be perfect!"
I said, "No, but it's mine and I would not be who I am today without all the things I have done before."

So, instead of thinking back at all the coulda, shoulda, wouldas, I'm going to think forward. I have a few goals that I would like to achieve this year. Here they are:

1. I would like to become more financially secure. I want to show my kids that when something is broken, don't sit around worrying about it. Get up and fix it. We are "broke" and I am going to fix it. Simple as that. I'm going to get a job.

2. With that goal being set, this one becomes more important than ever. I will make more family time. Game night, movie night, dinner out together, etc. Whatever I can do to let my kids know that we are family and I will be there for them.

3. Get healthy. I have a lot of weight to lose, but that is not all. I want to get the whole family more physically fit. Less junk food. Although, I must admit this is going to be my biggest challenge.

4. Get organized. Our house is not very big for a family of seven. I really want to use the space we have more efficiently. Clearing out things that are not necessary and donating them to Good Will. The extra clutter makes my head spin sometimes.

5. Finish remodeling our house. It has been a work in progress since we bought it and it's time to get it done. Hopefully, I can achieve goal number 1 quickly, because we will need the extra funds to accomplish this goal.

I sure hope that I can achieve all of these goals in 2009. I decided to start the year as if it were the beginning of my life. What are your goals for the new year? I would love to hear them!

My goal for the week: Take a walk every day. Even if it's freezing cold (that will just make me walk faster:)

  8. Good goals, Sandy. I wish you luck with all of them. My main goal is also to lose wieght and eat better.

I also joined a few weight loss blogs myself on my other blog. But, I think I am going to stop with one. I just don't feel good about the group. I will check out Think Thin Thursdays. Anything that will help me.

I actually started right after Halloween, but that did not go well at all. So I am hoping January will be a clean slate for me.
