She’s One!

 050
Happy Birthday to our sweet Stella! I can’t believe she’s one already! Still just as happy as the day she was born and learning more each and every day. She has taken her first steps and is delighted every time she does it. Each day adds a few more steps and I’m sure I’ll be chasing her around trying to catch up very soon.

The Authors’ Tea

feliciasclass
Yesterday Felicia’s class held their Authors’ Tea. Each student read a story that they wrote and illustrated. I must say, I was very impressed! They all did such a fantastic job and if anyone had any jitters about getting up on stage, it was not noticed at all. They all read confidently!

Felicia did very well! Her story was all about Spring. She had been talking about getting on stage for a long time and was most excited to be using a microphone. We are very proud of her!

The End Is Near

The end of school that is! These last few weeks are jam packed with activities and events to wrap up the school year. Felicia’s class recently took a trip to the Hershey Zoo and Chocolate world.

Tomorrow her class will be hosting an Author’s Tea.  We are very excited to attend! She has one more field trip coming up as well, a trip to Knoebels for the school picnic and soon summer vacation will be here!  It’s a little bittersweet for her. She loves school, but she can’t wait for summer fun!
Michael, Brandon, and Aaron are also wrapping up their school work. They can’t wait for the days when I stop waking them up to get busy with school.
Madelyn is thrilled to be finishing up her K4 work, because that means she is one step closer to Kindergarten! I think she would completely skip summer vacation if she could!  She’ll be done with school by the end of this week!
For me, I’m glad school is almost out! I can’t wait for the lazy days of summer. Taking spontaneous trips to the lake for a picnic, late night ice cream runs, and bedtimes pushed back so we can catch fireflies and play flashlight tag. Bring it on! I’m ready!

Michael’s Prom

002
We have been stuck in a miserable, rainy weather pattern for way too long, but thankfully today the sun was shining for the prom. It was gorgeous, and they looked fabulous!
011
It really is hard for me to believe that this is Michael’s last prom and that he will soon be graduating high school! Where does the time go?

ETA: She was the crowned queen of the prom!!!

We Want to Know Wednesday

Photobucket

Today I thought it would be fun to participate in We Want to Know Wednesday hosted by:
Today’s questions are provided by Janette.
{1} What game show have you always thought you could be on and totally WIN!
I have always wanted to be on Wheel of Fortune! I’m pretty good at word puzzles and always have fun trying to shout out the answers before the rest of my family. (which is probably the reason we don’t watch that show much any more) But yes, I could totally WIN!

{2} Do you have a tattoo(s)? What are they and what made you chose them? If not, would you get one, yes/no/why?
I do not have any tattoos! There was a time when I wanted one, but I’m so glad I didn’t go through with it. I’m pretty sure I would have regretted it later. Although I don’t have any, I love looking at other peoples tattoos! There are some amazing artists out there!

{3} What is your favorite piece of jewelry that you own?
My favorite piece of jewelry is actually my wedding set. My hubby had them completely redone a few years ago for our anniversary and I absolutely love them! I’m pretty hard on jewelry sometimes and I had lost my original diamond from my engagement ring. When Mike took it to be repaired, he had them do a complete redesign!

{4} What is your driving pet peeve(s)?
Well, a little something that a lot of people don’t know about me, I DON”T drive! However, by not driving, I observe a lot of crazy drivers out there! Texting while driving, drives me crazy! Seriously, nothing is that important that it can’t wait. If it is, PULL OFF THE ROAD! But texting is not the only way  that people distract themselves from the road, there’s also talking on the phone, fixing your hair, playing with the radio, etc. A few months ago hubby and I were behind a tractor trailer weaving all over the road. We cautiously passed him and as we did, I looked over to see what he was doing. He had a book open on the wheel and was not even looking at the road! Scary!

{5} What was your favorite sitcom growing up that you wish was still on?
I loved TV growing up!  Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Wonder Years, and Full House are a few of my favorites!

Rainbow Rice

028
My girls have always loved playing with their rice bins. Usually it’s just plain old white rice, but today I dyed some rice for them. All you need is some rice, food coloring, and rubbing alcohol. You can do this the way I did when we dyed pasta, or you can shake it around in ziplock bags. Just stir together 1/2 cup alcohol and 10-20 drops of food coloring. Then, add it to the rice and stir or shake depending on which way you choose to do it.  Spread the dyed rice onto trays lined with paper towels and allow it to dry completely.
026
When our rice was dry, I poured it into our sand table and added some alphabet pasta.

Under The Weather

Our week started off with Madelyn having the stomach bug. It is slowly moving through the rest of the family. Only Michael, Mike, and myself are left and I am not looking forward to it! Smile with tongue outHopefully, it will skip me! That would be the best Mother’s Day gift ever!

Have a great weekend and A very Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommas out there!
