Pasta Dyeing

With the recent heat wave and a few rainy days, we have been playing indoors a lot more than we like to. Finding things to keep the kids from getting bored when they really just want to be outside running around is always a challenge. One of our recent rainy day activities was making bracelets and necklaces with dyed pasta.

{Supplies needed}
rubbing alcohol
food coloring

1. Combine 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol and 10-20 drops of food coloring in a bowl. Add a hand full or 2 of pasta and stir around. Allow the pasta to sit in the dye for a few minutes stirring occasionally.
2. When the pasta is dyed to the desired color, remove it from the bowl and spread it out on paper towels to dry.
3. After it's completely dry, you can string the pasta on pieces of yarn to make necklaces and bracelets.

  1. My daughter and I did this a couple months ago. It sure can be fun! It surely keeps them busy.

  2. I am in love with your blog! So well done!!

  3. so colorful- loved the way they turned out!

  4. The colors came out so bright!

  5. What a clever idea. We're definitely going to have to try that.

Thanks for visiting! Come back again!
