Alphabet Book {Take 2}

Those of you that have been readers of Moments of Mommyhood for a while may remember the Alphabet Book that I made with Madelyn and Felicia several years ago. We made a page for every letter of the alphabet and put them together in a binder. While we still have that book, I thought it would be fun to create a new book with Stella. I plan to get started on it next week! We are hoping to do a letter a day which should help keep us busy while we are stuck inside from the cold. Blah!

Revisiting Muffin Tin Meals

When Felicia and Madelyn were younger I began making muffin tin meals and participating in a weekly meme to share them with others. They looked forward to them so much and when Stella was old enough to join in the fun, muffin tin meals quickly became her favorite way to eat anything and everything! They helped me to get my kids to try new foods and got us over the "I'm not eating vegetables" phase that Madelyn went through.

It's been so long since we have done one. In fact, there is no longer a link-up for Muffin Tin Monday. :( But, Stella has started asking for one, so today I surprised her with a muffin tin lunch! It's nothing fancy, but you would never have guessed that by her squeals of excitement. I think we'll be doing them a lot more and I am sure when the big girls get home from school, they will be begging for one too.

She had popcorn, yogurt, cucumbers, apples, a frog shaped sandwich, and ranch dip.
It's amazing how such simple things make the little ones happy!

Wordless Wednesday {I Miss Summer}

Rambling (because that's all I've got)

The winter "blahs" have been bringing me down lately. I love a good snow storm, but frigid temps, foggy, rainy days...I could live without those. Yesterday, Stella kept looking out the window asking when the sun was going to wake up. Blah! I NEED sunshine!

The view from my front window. Blah!

Sometimes, I feel like I never leave the house. However, I did get out this weekend to visit my Grandma who was celebrating her 93rd birthday! It was a good day!

On Monday, Felicia woke up with a swollen ankle...again. This has become a pretty common thing since breaking her ankle two summers ago.  I decided to keep her home from school so she could keep it elevated  and hopefully avoid an further injury. Little did I know that she would get to see a drug bust that day! Seriously, a man was walking up my street with an actively cooking bottle of meth in his pocket! You have no idea how angry this makes me! We live in a very small town, on a street full of small children and this piece of scum was carrying an active meth lab through our neighborhood. Along the street where my children ride their bikes, color with sidewalk chalk, and do cheers with their friends. This is not okay! Thankfully it happened during the day when most kids were at school (except for Felicia).

I'm going to try to make this day a little better. Stella and I are going to do some crafts to brighten our mood and chase the "blahs" away. Happy Wednesday!

This week..

Last Thursday, the kids finally got back to school following Christmas break. They were definitely in need of getting back into a normal routine. School vacations always end in constant bickering from all the "togetherness" and we needed a break from the break. It didn't last long. They were dismissed early and school was cancelled on Friday.

So, we enjoyed a bit of a warm up over the weekend and  readied ourselves for the coming week after the "false start". Only to be hit with a blast of cold and a little snow that caused a cancellation and a few delays. I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of January weather. I do love the snow, but the frigid temps are not cool (except...the kind of are). However, I'm thankful we have heat and warm clothes and cozy blankets. (I'm really trying to stay positive!)

Although I was hoping to find our new "normal" this week, it hasn't really worked out that way. I suppose  having the big kids here a little more helped Stella a bit. She's been missing her buddies that I was providing childcare for. She still asks when they are coming again, but not as often as before. On a positive note, not having the other littles here has given her a chance to play without the stress of others snatching her toys. Watching her play with her babies like a little momma just makes my heart melt. She only asked for one thing for Christmas and that was a "baby that poops". Watching her change that first poopy diaper was priceless. She's a good momma!
I guess we'll enjoy the weekend and try to find our new normal again next week!
 Happy Friday!
