Frequently Asked Questions for This Mom of 6

Having 6 kids has been the biggest blessing for me. I have always wanted a large family and I do truly believe that my purpose for being alive is to be a mommy. I love it! But with a large family, I often have to endure many, sometimes intrusive, questions. Most of the time, I just grin and bear it because after all, I know that people are just curious. But lately, the same questions over and over again have really been getting on my last nerve. Here are some of my {favorites}.

These are a few that are commonly asked by people that don't know me after finding out I have 6 kids:
  • Were they all planned? Yes, but even if they were not planned, I am happily married so what difference does it make?
  • Do they all have the same father? (This question usually comes after learning that there is a 7 year gap between my girls and boys) Yes, they all have the same father! After I had the 3 boys, I really wasn't sure that I wanted to have anymore. When my youngest son, Aaron, went to kindergarten, I knew that my baby days were not over. That's when we decided to have Felicia!
  • If you keep going, you could have your own TV show! Why yes, that is my ultimate goal in life! Having a camera crew follow me around all day long filming my every move. Isn't that every mom's dream?! NOT!
Commonly asked by family and friends:
  • Are you ready for another one? This is usually accompanied by a goofy grin which turns even goofier when I respond with....Sure! The truth is, I don't know if another baby is in our future. Would I love another sweet baby to snuggle and nurture? Absolutely! However, that may or may not be what's right for us and ONLY Mike and I will be making that decision!
The end.

  1. Hear, hear! People can be so insensitive to ask you such questions. Quite frankly, it's none of their business. Good for you for grinning and bearing it most of the time, but you really shouldn't have to.

  2. I admit to being a totally nosey woman, but I would NEVER ask any of those questions!! Especially to a total stranger! There are too many people walking around that have never learned simple manners!!! Good grief!

Had to laugh at the reality show comment. Yuck! Who wants that???

  5. Six is a lot of kids in this day and age, so people are probably just curious, as you say. But, there is nothing more annoying than hearing the same nosy Qs again and again!

    Stopping by from SITS!

  7. Do they all have the same father....gasp! Even I have more tact than to ask that!...I probably would have made the crack about having your own tv show if you kept having more kids though :)

  8. AMEN SISTA!!! People are idiots. They need to learn that your life is your life and you will do what you deem worthy. I've gotten those questions a million times over and I know just how you feel. P.S. love your blog!! I steal a lot of your crafty ideas to do with my kids. :)

  9. Oh, I feel your pain. I don't have 6 kids, but I do have twins and the questions (especially when they were babies) are nonstop! Were they natural, do twins run in the family and my favorite, are they identical (this from a NURSE in my ob-gyn's office - did I mention that my twins are a BOY and a GIRL?) I have lots of snarky comebacks that I've used in the past, but now I figure that people are just jealous. Enjoy your family whatever size it is!

  10. When you said "Last nerve" I just had to ask - are you from the Carolina's? Just totally curious!

There's a 6 year age gap between my first and second - and there are times I just know people are wondering, "Same dad?" No one has ever asked, though! LOL

The question I get is "Were you trying for a girl?" - which I abhore! That drives me nuts!
